Bandwidth control and path selection.

Optimal traffic control for network and business flexibility.

Overview

Give critical traffic the right of way.

Not all network traffic situations are the same, and not all applications need the same resources. Treating them the same way can cause more congestion and, ultimately, an unsatisfactory user experience.

Network traffic control is necessary to optimize business operations by ensuring that business-critical traffic flows reliably.

Open Systems Bandwidth Control ensures important applications still perform well 24/7 worldwide, even when WAN links are congested. Path Selection optimizes how traffic gets from one point to another when multiple paths over different connectivity circuits are available.

Bandwidth control prioritizing business-critical traffic
Components

Profiles, classes and policies.

Connectivity profiles

To make the network react faster to business needs, connectivity circuits are grouped into profiles by bandwidth, type of link or link behavior.

Traffic priority classes

To make room for business-critical traffic, each profile is split into priority classes, with maximum and minimum bandwidth configured.

Policies

Routing policies define which traffic takes which path, and what happens when a path is no longer usable or congested. The same policies can be applied to multiple locations.

How it works

See it, then steer it.

With bandwidth control and path selection, you can see network traffic usage, including encrypted traffic, by application, so you can control how your available bandwidth is consumed and set policies to route and prioritize traffic to your needs.

Tools and metrics let you control bandwidth usage by application, location and connection, optimizing performance across the whole organization. You can also route every application over an optimal path, and define per-app orders of preference in case connections drop or are degraded.
