Application optimization.

Boost application performance in your SD-WAN.

Overview

The cherry on top of the SD-WAN cake.

With a world on the go, the need for instant file sharing, and the sheer number of applications in use, bandwidth is a problem for most enterprises. High bandwidth usage and connectivity issues can significantly degrade the user experience.

Open Systems Application Optimization addresses this by reducing bandwidth consumption, applying caching and compression algorithms, and accelerating slow applications through protocol optimization. It is the top layer of the SD-WAN stack: connectivity integrates fast, reliable lines, path selection uses all available bandwidth optimally, bandwidth control protects business-critical apps, and application optimization is the cherry on top.

Components

Three ways to go faster.

Caching

Minimizes unnecessary data transfers by storing data locally, effective for repetitive user actions. The cache works for uploads and downloads, and across protocols.

Compression

Reduces redundancy in real time. Compressed data is transferred with a lossless compression protocol to reduce data size.

Protocol optimization

Improves the efficiency of chatty applications and reduces message costs by losslessly encoding lengthy header information and using adaptive congestion control.

How it works

Purpose-built to simplify operations.

Caching

  • Identify suitable blocks for caching
  • Efficiently hash and distribute caching blocks
  • Ensure data integrity and synchronization of cached data
  • Locate cached blocks and replace them with small block references
  • Identify caching blocks across protocols, for uploads and downloads

Compression

  • Identify blocks for compression
  • Compress each block without loss by reducing statistical redundancy
  • Send the smaller block over the network
  • Decompress the block to restore the original data

Protocol optimization

  • Identify protocols for optimization
  • Write ahead and read behind for CIFS
  • Losslessly encode lengthy header information for HTTP traffic
  • Adapt congestion-control windowing for TCP traffic
  • Add customized protocol optimization where required
