Questions about email security.

We are on Microsoft 365. Isn't its email security enough?

For commodity spam and known malware, often yes. The gap is targeted mail: zero-hour phishing, thread hijacking, malicious QR codes and business email compromise, where nothing in the message is technically malicious and the attack is the context. Our service enhances the native protections rather than replacing them, adding gateway filtering plus AI detection that learns your organization's own communication patterns.

What is the difference between Standard and Advanced?

Standard is the gateway layer: sender verification with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, TLS encryption, layered content analysis for malware, spam and phishing, and granular routing and policy. Advanced builds on it with adaptive, AI-based detection of the targeted attacks above, blocking pre-delivery. Advanced is an addition to Standard, not an alternative to it.

SEG or ICES? Which approach is this?

Both, deliberately, because the argument between them is mostly a false choice. Proven secure email gateway filtering handles volume and known indicators; AI-driven detection handles what has no signature yet. Running only one of the two is the most common reason a well-funded email setup still lets a good spear-phishing mail through.

Where is our email data processed?

In Switzerland and the EU. Data hosting jurisdiction is part of the service rather than a paid option, which matters for email more than for most controls because message content is the most sensitive traffic most organizations have. The audited perimeter and certifications are in the Trust Center.

Will it delay or break legitimate mail?

Detection runs pre-delivery without a noticeable performance cost, and policy is granular enough to handle the awkward real cases: a partner domain that fails DMARC, a mailing list, an application that sends outbound. Those cases are tuned by email security specialists as part of the service, which is usually where an in-house setup runs out of hours.

Who changes the configuration when something needs to change?

We do. Best-practice configuration is kept current as threats move, complex changes go to 24/7 expert-level support, and a designated Technical Account Manager owns the strategy with you. You keep visibility and control through the customer portal; what you do not keep is the maintenance backlog.

How does this connect to the rest of the platform?

Email is one of the entry points, not a separate world. The same curated threat intelligence that feeds Advanced Threat Protection for web traffic feeds email filtering, and a link clicked in a message lands on the Secure Web Gateway. One platform means an indicator seen in mail is already blocked on the web.
